quilters across the globe sharing their talents and forging new friendships

I loved my blocks you all made so much that I decided to make some more so I could have a Queen size quilt for my bed. Then I got a bit carried away and decided to make a smaller version so that I could practice the quilting on my longarm before I tackled the bigger version. Blogger is not being nice with loading photos tonight!!
Here is the smaller one blowing on the clothes line-before quilting-if you think you see that a couple of the grey fabrics look darker than the others you are right. Two different purchases and I didn't notice it till Ii quilted it!!
And here I is a close up of the quilting, which I have to say I love and the machine behaved beautifully. I quilt freehand and I will do the grey parts the same as this but may change the design on the patterned fabrics.
And here is a final one of my helper-no matter where she is the moment the longarm starts she zooms down the hall and then bounds onto the quilt!! Why has blogger loaded the picture this way-I now give up!!!

Oops...well, maybe not

I was checking my pinterest pins and found this cute little blog from two Dutch sisters. So, without thinking it thru, I "friended" it to this blog. But after looking thru the different posts, I left it. It is a cute little blog, enjoy. Now, back to sewing for me..Elaine
Check it out, it's cute.

One more house to show

I received the house from Sue from Australia.  Here it is showing off with Melina and Marlene's houses.

Elisa, your's hasn't arrived yet.  I look forward to it being in my pile of mail when I get home from Australia.  We leave on Sunday and will be there for a month.  My b-i-l told me that I should wear the same shirt I had on when I was speaking to him on Skype today.  I told him I don't think so.  It is 19 degrees there and -30 here....

Teeny weeny blocks for Elaine

These are the blocks i've made for Elaine.

They look ok, i was happy with the colours and whipped them up quickly. too quickly I'm afraid! I have cut the half square triangles way too small and ruined any chance i had of making these blocks for Elaine's quilt.
Today I posted them to Texas with apologies. Maybe Elaine would like to make a cushion or a label from them. Maybe she would like to send me a bit more of the Moda Bella Stone........which I am more than happy to pay for and then I can right my wrong.
Why doesn't anyone in this town sell this fabric, I have called them all?
So sorry Elaine.

Janet and Elaine's blocks

I finally had time to work on these blocks. I will mail them out tomorrow. I hope ya'll enjoy them.

Elaine - I just used some of my favorite fabrics.

Janet - the flowers on the sides of the house are supposed to be my flower gardens.

I have enjoyed doing this online bee and would love to do so again.

Thank you all,
Elisa

More Houses on the Block and Blocks for Elaine

Elaine,  I put your blocks in the mail earlier this week.  And today when I looked at the picture I took of them, I see it is blurry!  Oh well, hopefully you'll have the real thing to look at soon.  Here is the blurry version...

And two more houses have gone up on the block, one from Melina and one from Marlene.

Thanks ladies!  They're so cute!

Sue, your block hasn't arrived yet, but I'm not worried yet.  Mail can be super slow here sometimes.  Other times it is average.  I would give it at least another week before I start to think it's gone missing.

House blocks are arriving and the town is going up!!

Hi all,

I've received six house blocks in the last week and thought I would show you how things are shaping up so far.

So fun!! :)

Beebee sent me this cute little coffee mug rug too.

Thanks for all the blocks received so far, and I am anticipating the arrival of Sue's, Marlene's and Melina's blocks which are all in the mail.  Bah to Canada Post...

Time for a 2013 Bee update!

I hope you all had fun making all the blocks this year.  I am pretty sure I got all the blocks when it was my turn.  Since I moved I can not find that file I had to keep track.  I made two nice 'round the world" twin size quilts with the blocks you all sent and the multiple blocks I made to go with them.

Here is a picture of one of them.  We use them everyday!

Did everyone get all of their blocks?  I am going to send an email to all the "bees" to check to see how everyone did.

I would love it if everyone would post a picture of their quilts, in progress or completed ok?

Elaine's block (s) and My Blocks

After I sent off Elaine's block, I was in my sewing room and looked over and there were leftover bits from the block.  What am I going to do with those, I thought and then it hit me.  Make another block for Elaine.  I pulled some more squares and put them over to the side thinking I was so clever and what a great surprise two blocks would be.   Then I got sick and then never got back into the studio.  Then I saw where someone posted two blocks.  Duh, I guess we were supposed to make two blocks to begin with.  Silly me for not thinking that from the start.  Today, I finally got around to making the second block for Elaine.  I will get it in the mail this week - hopefully tomorrow.  Sorry for being so dense and not connecting the dots sooner.

Speaking of blocks.  I have received blocks from 9 of the 11 people on the list and reading the posts, I am thinking that this will be all that I am going to receive from this group.  If the two people that haven't sent their blocks are still participating and plan on sending their block soon, please let me know and I will hold off putting my quilt together.  If I don't hear from you soon, I will assume that I have all the blocks I am going to receive.

Elaine's block

I finally got to make Elaine's block.  I put it off because it looked difficult but it was really easy.  I did my best to match all the seams.   I hope you like it Elaine!   I will put it in the mail tomorrow!

Here are your blocks, Elaine. They will go out in the mail tomorrow.
Here's hoping you receive a lot of happy, scrappy, bright blocks.

At Last Janet

Sorry for the delay Janet-life just got in the way and I haven't been in the sewing room for about six weeks so this heralded the return.
I had fun making this block and hope you like it. I can't wait to see them all put together.
Oops should have ironed this again before taking the photo.

Last block ladies

Janet,
I hope you like your house block, kinda wonky my way. The hardest part was cutting between the fingers..
My sofa is under the block; the block actually has an all green background.
Now, on to the last block.
I found this on http://www.dontcallmebetsy.com/2012/03/patchwork-wheel-block-tutorial.html. The quilt block is Patchwork Wheel Quilt  block tutorial and it's fun. I'm going to send the background fabric out to each and want you to use your scraps please. It's a 12.5" block, square up if you like, or not. I like bright and funky fabrics. I am in no rush, obviously with the holidays everyone was very busy. I put my block on the back burner and just plain forgot it. Forgive me Janet.

She has an awesome blog and a great tutorial for this block. I bookmarked her so I could return and take my time going through her blog.

Thanks for the fun year ladies and nudging each other on to go outside our comfort zones, or maybe that was just me! Happy New Years and thank you.
